The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Education Foundation will begin offering grants for teachers in 2024.
The foundation was established earlier this year to support WS/FCS with additional resources. At a recent school board meeting, officials from the foundation announced that it will offer $50,000 in grants over three cycles next year.
Donald Dunn, one of the directors, said the first cycle will fund classroom initiatives and materials that will enhance students’ learning experience.
“One of the things I take away from my interactions with the educators, they always say, 'What if I had something else? If I had just a little bit more time, a little bit more money, I think I can make the learning experience for our scholars much more enriching,'” Dunn said.
Dunn encouraged teachers to start thinking about how they could use grants of up to $1,000 to make a big impact. Applications open on the foundation’s website on Jan. 1.
