In High Point, a busy return for the furniture market

The internationally known furniture market is back in High Point and the city has come alive.

Excited chatter and wafting food-truck aromas filled the air above a bustling Main Street in downtown High Point this weekend. The return of the twice-a-year furniture market brings new business, inspiration, and potential connections for both buyers and sellers.

For business owners, this time of the year is crucial in building their companies’ product portfolio.

Lori Carpenter, an interior designer who runs a company in Arkansas known as Lori Carpenter Designs, says she’s in High Point looking for furniture for clients.

“You can’t hit it all. There’s just no way ‘cause there’s so much here," she says. "You just have to find those showrooms that really inspire you, give you inspiration.”

A 2018 Duke University study reported that the event created over $6.7 billion of annual economic output for the region.
