Winston-Salem residents have a new way to get COVID-19 testing — a kiosk outside of the Forsyth County Department of Public Health.

There you can find collection kits with instructions. Once the test is completed, it’s deposited in the kiosk. Samples are delivered to a lab and results are available by text or email within a day or two.

Forsyth County Public Health Director Joshua Swift says he heard about the opportunity at a monthly leadership meeting in Raleigh earlier this year.

“We just tried to make another, I would say tool in the toolbox to make COVID testing accessible,” he says.

The process is free and available 24/7 and funding comes from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The kiosk is operated and maintained by a company called testandgo. According to their website, there are four total in North Carolina, with the other three located further east near Clinton, Albertson, and Kinston.

Guilford County Public Health also has plans to install a similar kiosk.
