Dr. James Carmichael Renick, a former chancellor of North Carolina A&T University, has died. He was 72.

In 2001, A&T worked with a non-profit organization to help develop the city's International Civil Rights Center & Museum. Additionally, the university installed a monument commemorating the four freshmen who led a sit-in at a downtown Woolworth's in 1960, according to a university biography.
