UPDATE MONDAY, MARCH 23, 2020: Hanging Rock State Park is among four North Carolina state parks that have closed because of coronavirus concerns. North Carolina State Parks officials released a statement saying that continued crowding at the parks doesn't adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Feeling a little stir crazy and looking for a great place to venture out, while still staying socially distanced? There are many local options, and WFDD's Sonsera Kiger has created a list of places that have inspired her, right here in our listening area.
Just follow the sticky note smiley face for your next outdoor adventure:
Did you know that there is a tree in this park that's estimated to be more than 500 years old?! Check it out at 5600 Balsom Rd, Pfafftown, NC 27040.

For a short jaunt outside, try the Bethania trailhead. It starts behind the old mill in downtown Bethania.

Not feeling the park scene? Maybe you can head out, and create your own path!
Waterfall vistas are nearby, too! To get to the bottom of the falls is a bit precarious, though, so this may not be best for little tykes. 2143 Hall Rd. Westfield, NC 27053
Hanging Rock State Park also offers a chance to hike on the Mountain to Sea Trail. 1790 Hanging Rock Park Rd, Danbury, NC 27016
Or if a riverside hike through a spring green copse is for you, it's at the Dan River Access. 1258 Flinchum Rd, Danbury, NC 27016
The best way to end your hike or bike ride: AHHHHHHH! The Dan River! To the right of the parking area at the Indian Creek Trail: direct access.

Happy face, guaranteed! :)
