Company Rejects PETA Billboard Honoring Cows Killed In Crash

An advertising company is rejecting a billboard honoring cows killed in a Winston-Salem tractor-trailer crash.

Lamar Advertising Company says it likely won't accept a request from an animal rights group to erect a billboard memorializing 21 cows killed in the crash last week.

People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals had said it wanted to place a billboard at the site along Interstate 40 in Winston-Salem where the truck overturned, “in honor of the cows who were injured and killed.”

A spokeswoman for the Louisiana-based advertising company said the company received the request, but they don' accept advertising from PETA.

Representatives for Lamar Advertising have said in the past that the organization violated policies regarding content on billboards.

About half of the 41 cows on board the tractor-trailer died in the February 18th crash, which shut down an eastbound section of the interstate for much of the day.
