This weekend the Forsyth Central Library continues celebrating Black History Month with its first African American Author Fair.

More than 25 writers will be at the library discussing, signing, and selling their books. There is also going to be book discussions and family activities. One of the books, Isaac's Adventures In Paris, was penned by a ten-year-old from Winston-Salem.

The event is organized by assistant librarian Zeinab Savage, who hopes that the children's books and authors at the event could inspire the next generation.

“Representation is number one," says Savage. "We want our little ones to be able to see these things and say, ‘hey, that looks like me, I can do that too.' And so that's what it represents for somebody like me who is a former educator. So its like constantly telling the kids, cause in my world, the kids are it.”

Savage also notes that readers of diverse backgrounds can potentially gain insight and empathy by familiarizing themselves with the work of African American authors.

The African American Author Fair takes place on Saturday starting at 2:00 p.m.
