Police: Five Killed In Greensboro Crash After Driver Flees Authorities

Five people died in a crash early Sunday after a deputy initiated a pursuit of a driver behind the wheel of an allegedly stolen car, Greensboro police said.

The Guilford County deputy was about a quarter mile behind the car on Battleground Avenue when it entered the intersection with New Garden Road, striking another car crossing the intersection with the right of way, Greensboro Police Public Information Officer Susan Danielsen said.

Three people in the car being chased were killed, and two people in the car that was struck also died.

No one in either car survived, Danielsen said.

The victims have not been identified.

“We are working on positively identifying the deceased and notifying the next-of-kin, at which point we will release more information,” Danielson said.
