Paul Brown
Angus MacLachlan (left) of Winston-Salem, NC, wrote and directed the new independent film Abundant Acreage Available, set in rural North Carolina. Jeffrey Dean Foster, also of Winston-Salem, created the music. They discuss the story, the creative process, the use of sound, and music traditions on this Across the Blue Ridge episode.

The new independent film Abundant Acreage Available makes its North Carolina and New York debuts, we hear a music-filled conversation with the film's writer/director, Angus MacLachlan, and the creator of its music, Jeffrey Dean Foster.  The film tells a story of doubt, regret, reckoning, and hope, set on an East Bend, North Carolina, farm. MacLachlan and Foster discuss with Across the Blue Ridge host Paul Brown the development of the musical and ambient sound components of the film, and how they relate to the telling of a complex and subtle story.

Former 88.5 WFDD News Director Paul Brown founded Across the Blue Ridge at WFDD in the late 1980s. Now Paul is back in his beloved Blue Ridge region, his journalism and storytelling skills honed better than ever. He's ready to present more music, share discussion with more interesting characters, and be your friend and guide in discovery. Paul is actively involved in today's acoustic music scene, crisscrossing the region and the country as a teacher, performer, and interviewer.
