NCAA Sets Deadline For State To 'Resolve' HB2

A deadline appears to have been set by the NCAA in the House Bill 2 controversy.

In a statement Tuesday, the executive director of the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance, Scott Dupree, said the state needs to deal with HB2 by Thursday.

According to Dupree, “If HB2 has not been resolved by that time, the NCAA will have no choice but to move forward without the North Carolina bids."

Last week, in a press release, the NCAA said it would soon begin setting locations for future games from 2018 through 2022. The organization reaffirmed its stance on HB2, a law that limits civil rights protections for LGBT individuals.

This follows an NCAA announcement in the fall that it would be pulling seven championship games from the state due to the measure.

Host sites will be announced April 18th.
