NBA Will Hold All-Star Game In New Orleans

The city of New Orleans will host the NBA All-Star Game in 2017. It was previously scheduled to be held in Charlotte.

In a press release, the NBA said the high-profile event will be played next February at Smoothie King Center, home of the New Orleans Pelicans.

The announcement follows the organization's decision in July to remove the game from North Carolina in protest of House Bill 2. That's the law limiting anti-discrimination measures for LGBT individuals.

Governor McCrory's office released a statement, calling the move "another classic example of politically-correct hypocrisy gone mad."

Previously, the NBA said it could not successfully host the All-Star festivities in Charlotte in the climate created by the current law.

The NBA All-Star Game is part of a three-day event highlighting the league's mid-season. It begins February 17th.
