Reports: NBA Ready To Pull All-Star Game Over HB2

Reports indicate the NBA is set to pull its 2017 All-Star Weekend out of Charlotte because of HB2. (Source: NBA)

Several sources are reporting the NBA is ready to announce that it's pulling its 2017 All-Star Game out of Charlotte because of House Bill 2.

League commissioner Adam Silver has said on several occasions that the controversial law runs counter to the NBA's core principles of diversity and inclusion and needed to be changed in order for the game to remain in North Carolina.

House Bill 2 limits local protections for LGBT residents and requires transgender people to use the bathroom listed on their birth certificate, among other things.

Silver says he has been “crystal clear” on what the league wanted state lawmakers to change.

Charlotte has not hosted the NBA's All-Star Weekend in 25 years. The leading contender to replace the Queen City is New Orleans.
