North Carolina Population Jumps By A Half Million In Five Years

The Tar Heel State grew by more than half a million people between 2010 and 2015, according to the latest U.S. Census data, released Thursday.

That means the state is now home to more than 10 million people.

According to the new numbers, women still outnumber men in North Carolina, and the largest age group in the state includes those who are between 45 and 49 years old.

Here in the Triad, both Guilford and Forsyth Counties grew by about five percent each over the same time period.

These census estimates are released each year and include all people currently residing in the United States. In addition to providing information for community development and business planning, the data from the reports help determine federal funding allocations.
