Bridge condition

A projected $1M-plus budget overrun at the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office led to a tense exchange between commissioners and Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough on Monday.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is beginning bridge replacement projects in Alamance, Surry and Yadkin counties.

Several bridges are in poor condition in the Triad, according to the latest National Bridge Inventory data. But state officials say that doesn’t necessarily mean they are unsafe.
