A Winston-Salem business is recognized as the best drive-thru coffee shop in the country by a national news site.

USA Today has been running a reader's choice poll for weeks. The results were released today and Coffee Park Airstream came out on top, ahead of 19 competitors including major chains like Starbucks, Dunkin’ and McDonald's.

Owner Tommy Priest has been serving up top-quality coffee for 16 years in a small lot between downtown Winston-Salem and Wake Forest University.

He has known the results for almost a week but hasn't been able to share them. He says he's happy not just for himself and his business, but for all of Winston-Salem.

“What this means is that small mom-and-pop shops can go up against big multinational corporations and win recognition,” he says.

The business serves coffees, espressos, lattes and other drinks to drive-thru customers out of a 1950s-era Airstream camper.

Priest says he’s still a little shocked that the business was even nominated for the honor.
