The College of Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University is getting a huge financial boost. It's one of several gifts the school has received in recent months.

The $3 million investment in the College of Engineering comes from the Dominion Energy Foundation and will provide scholarships for students seeking careers in engineering and computer science.

The gift is part of Dominion's “HBCU Promise,” a program directing funding to eleven institutions in Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

According to a press release, the Greensboro school was the only university in North Carolina selected for the program, which is designed to support African American and other underrepresented students in Dominion's service area.

The gift follows on the heels of another multi-million dollar investment in N.C. A&T, and seeks to improve graduation and retention rates in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department.

The university also received a $1 million gift from Bank of America in September.
