The Triad landed appearances by two legendary musicians in the last two days - artists who combined have sold more than 200 million records.

Billy Joel has made several coliseum appearances in the area over the years. But his concert at Winston-Salem's BB&T Field at Wake Forest University will be the first time he's played a stadium in North Carolina. And it's his only scheduled stop in the state this year.

The performance is scheduled for October 13.

Paul Simon will play Greensboro Coliseum June 19 as part of what the singer-songwriter has dubbed “Homeward Bound - The Farewell Tour.” Simon announced Monday that he has decided to stop touring when this one is completed, saying he still loves making music but laments the time away from his wife and family.

Simon has been performing for more than 50 years.

Both Simon and Joel are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and are among the top-selling artists of all time.
