President Donald Trump’s recent travel ban is impacting international students in the Triad.

The policy bars citizens from 12 countries from entering the United States, and partially restricts those from another seven. Most of these are in Africa or the Middle East.

A spokesperson for North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University says there are 25 enrolled students from Iran, Sudan and Republic of the Congo who are subject to the full ban.

"Our Office of International Affairs is closely monitoring this situation and working to address inquiries from both incoming and international students and scholars while also keeping academic departments and relevant administrative offices well informed," the spokesperson said in a statement to WFDD.

At the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, data shows there were 17 international students from countries on the full ban list enrolled in the spring.

A spokesperson says the school doesn’t know where the students are currently, or if they’ve been impacted by the ban, because the university is between semesters.

Winston-Salem State University officials say the school has one student from a country on the full ban list. A Wake Forest University spokesperson says officials are currently "working to understand the implications of travel bans for our community."

"Our first priority is to communicate with and support our students and scholars who are impacted. Wake Forest's Center for Immigration Services and Support will issue additional information and guidance to our community as we have it," the spokesperson said in a statement to WFDD.
