Paul Brown

This week’s Across the Blue Ridge explores roots of bluegrass in North Carolina old-time music – specifically that of the groundbreaking banjo player Charlie Poole. Musician and researcher Henry “Hank” Sapoznik joins host Paul Brown for a lively discussion – with plenty of music – that helps us understand where bluegrass style playing came from, what it is, and Charlie Poole’s role as a pioneer. Plus … some classic bluegrass and old-time traditional songs, some updated, some not … and fiddle classics from artists including Kenny Baker, Arthur Smith and Albert Hash.
