The candidate filing period is now open for this year’s municipal elections in Guilford, Forsyth, and Watauga counties.

More than two dozen municipalities will hold local races this fall, including Greensboro, where four city council seats and the mayor’s office are up for election. Voters in Summerfield, Boone, and Blowing Rock will also choose new mayors.

In Forsyth County, council seats are available in Lewisville and Clemmons, and voters in Kernersville will weigh in on alderman races.

Candidates must file by noon on July 18 to appear on the ballot. Filing instructions are available on the North Carolina State Board of Elections website.
