How AI is helping make weather predictions

Meteorologists are agog at the accuracy of a brand-new artificial-intelligence-based hurricane model. Google’s DeepMind model — which uses historical data, not physics, in its forecasts — outperformed all the other models and the National Hurricane Center’s forecasts.
