Guilford County has scheduled two community meetings next week to receive input on a new plan that aims to shape the area on topics like land use and transportation over the next several years.

The Guiding Guilford plan tries to ensure development across the area matches the vision of the community.

During the summer of 2023, county officials held open-house workshops to discuss how to manage growth, infrastructure needs and economic development.

The new plan serves as a guidebook for these priorities. It also focuses on creating a diverse range of housing by closely working with municipalities and home builders and calls for including new residential construction in areas accessible to employment, schools and services.

A virtual meeting will be held on July 30 at noon to receive feedback. That same day an in-person session will take place at Southeast Guilford High School at 5:30 p.m.

County staff and consultants will be available to answer residents' questions.
