The Quarry at Grant Park closed as search for missing person continues

The Quarry at Grant Park in Winston-Salem was closed Wednesday by police as officers continued their search for a missing teenager.

Kaedian Allen has not been seen since May 31 when he fled a vehicle driven by another man following an attempted traffic stop.

The vehicle was found abandoned in the parking lot at Quarry Park. The driver, 20-year-old Tyrone Eldridge, was located shortly after the incident, arrested and charged with several traffic violations and felony flee to elude.

Allen is not wanted in a criminal investigation, and no foul play is suspected at this time.

So far authorities have searched the park area on foot with a bloodhound, by boat and drone. They’ve also used sonar technology and an underwater drone.

The additional search was initiated due to the discovery of new resources and technology made available through federal and local partners. They include the Winston-Salem and High Point Fire Departments, and the NC State and Federal Bureaus of Investigation among others.

Allen has brown eyes and black hair, dreadlocks and braces. He stands roughly 6-feet tall and weighs 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black and red Nike jacket, dark pants and slides.

Those with information regarding Allen’s location are being encouraged to call local law enforcement. A notification will be made when the park is reopened to the public.
