The question of who will represent the GOP in the race for lieutenant governor and state auditor on Election Day this fall has been settled.

In the Republican race for lieutenant governor, candidates were narrowed down to Hal Weatherman and Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O’Neill.

Weatherman won the second primary with 74% of the vote. O’Neill received 26% of the vote and was led by Weatherman by over 63,000 votes. Weatherman will go on to face Democrat Rachel Hunt, who is the daughter of former four-term N.C. Gov. Jim Hunt, and Libertarian Dee Watson.

In the second primary for state auditor, Dave Boliek snagged 53% of the vote, and Jack Clark 47%.

Boliek will face incumbent Democrat Jessica Holmes and Libertarian Bob Drach in the general election.
