N.C. A&T partners with Cone Health to address disparities through community outreach

North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is partnering with Cone Health to host a series of community wellness events.

The first, which will be held on Saturday, is called “Building a Better You."

It’s a resource fair that will offer health screenings, free food, and information about housing assistance, jobs, mental health and more.

The series of events is designed to address the health and social disparities of the East Greensboro community, specifically focusing on chronic diseases such as cancer, obesity, and diabetes, as well as outcomes for heart and brain health.

One of the goals of these efforts is to close the life expectancy gap in the area by five years.

The first event will be held at the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA in Greensboro on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
