Early voting begins Thursday for postponed Greensboro city elections

Early voting begins Thursday to determine the winners of Greensboro's postponed municipal elections.

Voters within Greensboro's city limits will decide on the mayor and city council seats.

The races had been delayed because of late census data needed for redistricting. In May, primary voters winnowed down a pack of candidates for mayor to two finalists: Incumbent Nancy Vaughan and City Councilman Justin Outling.

This election is final, meaning candidates in these races do not advance to the November general election.

In addition to the local government seats, voters will be deciding on whether to allow the city to borrow up to $135 million for bond projects. The five separate initiatives are for parks and recreation, affordable housing, transportation works, and fire and police facilities.

Early voting runs through July 23. Election Day for these races is July 26.
