Cone Health Extends Deadline For Employees To Get Vaccinated

Employees now have until October 28 to get their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Those who get the Johnson & Johnson one-shot option must still do so by October 1.

The original requirement was announced in July and applies to all employees, medical and dental staff, professional students, and volunteers.

Since the announcement, the Food and Drug Administration has fully approved the Pfizer vaccine and the government said it will not allow health care organizations to work with Medicare or Medicaid patients without a vaccine mandate.

According to a press release, Cone Health says that the extension gives employees more time to “consider all new information.”

The health care system has not released any current compliance figures and has said it will not do so until the new deadline has passed.
