Health Care Providers Offer More Services And New Protocol

As health care professionals begin providing more services in the days to come, some things will look different when you head to the doctor's office.

This week Novant Health began rescheduling appointments that were previously delayed due to COVID-19.

These include pediatric wellness checks, chronic disease appointments, and acute issue visits.

Dr. Dan Jobe is an internal medicine physician with Novant who is currently working at a respiratory assessment center. He believes resuming these medical services can be done safely with new procedures and protocols, starting with check-in.

“Patients may be offered an opportunity to do that electronically through their phone rather than in person at a desk," he says. "The lobbies will likely look different. Patients will notice that there are fewer chairs and the chairs are spaced out in order to allow for social distancing. Patients will be asked to wear masks.”

Jobe says staff will also wear personal protective equipment and individuals will be screened for fever before they enter a facility.
