No, That's Not Bigfoot: 8-Foot Statue Causes Sighting Calls

This statue has local residents crying 'Bigfoot.' Photo courtesy of Davie County Animal Shelter.

The animal control department in a North Carolina County is getting an influx of calls with reports of a strange sighting, and it has local officials assuring callers that the creature they're seeing is not Bigfoot.

The 8-foot beast resides in a wooded area in Davie County. But it's not the mythical Sasquatch – it's just a wooden statue.

In fairness, it does resemble what some say Bigfoot would look like, and it even has eyes that appear to glow at night.

The Davie County animal shelter says the statue is one of several residing on private property east of Statesville.

The shelter shared a photo of the creature on its Facebook page, which has been getting lots of traffic since the sightings began.

The county's animal control is asking those driving on nearby roads at night to stop calling in the reports.
