On this month’s Let's Talk About It, dialogue coach David Campt and WFDD's David Ford take it to the streets (literally!) to discuss the thorny issue of guns. They recently attended a Greensboro Food Truck Festival downtown and asked passers-by for their thoughts on gun rights and gun control.

Following the morning thunderstorms, it was a sunny but extremely windy afternoon in the Gate City. Thousands of people were there to relax and sample new or familiar foods there. A few folks were willing to temporarily put down their drunken noodles, Korean barbecue, and Haitian stewed chicken to speak with Campt.

"Before the conversation begins, you’re gonna want to arm yourself with questions for the other person that gets at the personal experiences they’ve had that inform their belief," says Campt. "And you also want to think through a personal story of your own, at least one that shows that on some level you can relate to what they’ve told you — even if you disagree — and one that might help them understand why you might have a different take in general on the issue."
