Oak View Group has been named the successful bidder to run the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.

Greensboro City Council approved starting negotiations for a contract with the private company at its meeting on Tuesday. Oak View Group, or OVG360, is a full-service management business with global headquarters in Denver, Colorado.

The City Council voted unanimously to authorize the award of a contract to the organization for its management services.

The company would oversee the Greensboro Coliseum Complex's nine venues as well as the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts.

According to a presentation before the council in February, OVG360 would offer staff salary and benefits equal to or greater than what they currently have.

Crystal Burton has worked full-time at the Coliseum Complex since 2019 and spoke at the council meeting. She says employees are still concerned about the changes ahead, and she had hoped to retire as a city employee.

"We have been told we should be thankful that we are guaranteed a job with OVG," Burton says. "That is not an easy decision to leave the city and go to work for a private company."

Assistant City Manager Larry Davis says he thinks a contract will be finalized by the end of the month.
