The former CEO of The Fresh Market has acquired a Greensboro-based sporting-goods store.

Craig Carlock and his wife Kristin are the new owners of Omega Sports. Omega began as a single store in Greensboro. It was founded in 1978 by Phil Bowman and Thom Rock, and they were later joined by Robert Hager. The News and Record of Greensboro reports Omega has since expanded to 14 locations in the Triad, the Triangle, Charlotte, and beyond.

New owner Carlock says in a news release that he was impressed by the company's commitment to customer service and expansive product offering.

Bowman and Hager will remain as investors in the company and maintain executive roles.

Thom Rock will be leaving to pursue other interests.
