In July, the Guilford County Board of Elections voted 4-1 to approve an early voting plan that removed polling places on the North Carolina A&T State University and UNC Greensboro campuses; the sites had been used in 2024.
Last week, the majority-Republican State Board of Elections approved that plan despite repeated student calls to keep campus sites in place.
Students from both universities shared their thoughts on the decision with WFDD.
"The polling site being on campus made it easier for students to vote, and I feel like, you know, they do know that as well. So they're trying to make it harder for us to vote by restricting access to the polling site." —Tayari Adams, N.C. A&T

"I don't really like it. I think it limits access. So as students, we definitely deserve to have more freedom in being able to vote. I feel like it's kind of like gerrymandering in a sense." —Denori Riveras, UNCG
