Burlington is outpacing the rest of the Triad region in population growth, according to newly released federal estimates.

Data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows the Burlington metro area grew faster than its larger neighbors between 2024 and 2025.

Most of that growth came from people moving into Alamance County, especially from elsewhere in the U.S. Just a quarter of all new residents were from other countries.

The Winston-Salem and Greensboro-High Point metro areas also added residents during that time, but at slower rates.

Statewide, Wilmington led in metro-area growth last year.
