The Summerfield Community Center is where Summerfield Town Council meetings take place.

The Town of Summerfield is suing two former employees over several allegations of misconduct.

The town council voted on Monday to retain Sands Anderson to pursue litigation against former Town Manager Scott Whitaker and former finance officer Dee Hall. The decision is the latest in what's been ongoing internal strife in Summerfield.

The move comes following allegations of financial mismanagement and the removal of town data by former staff.

An attorney for the former employees said in a statement that Summerfield is “continuing its smear campaign against Whitaker and Hall as a result of their own political failures.”

An attorney representing Summerfield is requesting that the complaint be partially sealed. According to the filing, this is because some of the information included could constitute “personnel files.”
