Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist announced this week that it will acquire Hugh Chatham Health, a medical system in Elkin.

Atrium Health says it will invest $100 million to support the recruitment and retention of providers in the Yadkin Valley region.

The funds will also expand clinical programs like Heart and Vascular, Cancer Care, and Women’s Services.

Atrium Health says it is putting another $30 million toward establishing the Yadkin Valley Wellness Foundation, which aims to advance wellness priorities in the community.
