Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools is debt-free and rebuilding savings after a major financial crisis. But officials say this marks a milestone — not an end to their work.

Officials say it’s some of the worst flooding to hit the area in decades.

There’s a High Country tradition that starts in August. Supposedly, it helps predict how many snowfalls the area will get during the winter. It’s called “Beans in a Jar.” For this week’s Carolina Curious, WFDD’s Reyna Drake discovers what’s behind the longstanding Appalachian ritual.

The incident took place at 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning at Royal Banquet Hall on West Gate City Boulevard.
