Winston-Salem Police shoot man allegedly armed with a knife after disturbance at home

A man allegedly armed with a knife was shot by Winston-Salem police over the weekend.

Officers were dispatched to a residence on Zachary's Keep Court after a report of a man with a weapon threatening others on Saturday. According to police, upon arriving Marcel Ndimubandi was seen armed with a knife.

When police attempted to speak with him he allegedly charged and an officer then shot him. As of Monday, Ndimubandi is currently in critical but stable condition in the hospital. No other person was injured.

The Winston-Salem Police Department said the name of the officer involved would not be released at this time.

The State Bureau of Investigation will also independently investigate the incident.
