Shooting in Winston-Salem leaves one dead, three others injured

A Gastonia man is facing a murder charge following a shooting that left three people injured and one teen dead, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.

WGHP reports officers arrived at the 2900 block of Starlight Drive around 12:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, police encountered four gunshot wound victims. One of them, 18-year-old Angelo Delacruz Calleja of Winston-Salem, was found dead.

Officials later discovered that the suspect, Austreberto Marin Figueroa, 43, of Gastonia, visited a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. He was later taken into custody and charged with general murder. Figueroa was denied bond.

Investigators claim that the fatal shooting was not a random act of violence, and confirmed that there is no threat of danger to the community. They ask that anyone with information step forward to help prevent future violence.
