The City of Winston-Salem wants the public’s help to pick a new city manager.

Developmental Associates LLC, the executive search firm hired to find a replacement for current Manager Lee Garrity, is hosting an input session for residents next week.

In a release, the city said the firm will ask citizens to answer two primary questions at the meeting: What are the biggest challenges facing Winston-Salem? And what are the key qualifications needed in its manager?

The session will be held on Monday, May 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the Winston-Salem City Council chamber. Residents who are unable to attend can still participate by filling out a community survey available on the city’s website.

Garrity announced plans in January to step down from his post. He first took the helm in 2006 but has been a city employee since 1990. He’s set to retire on June 23.
