Winter Weather Causes Power Outages, Advisory in Effect

MEL EVANS/AP

More than 100,000 residents across the Triad are without power Saturday due to winter weather.

Duke Energy reports over 76,000 customers are experiencing outages in Guilford County,  26,000 in Forsyth County, and 15,000 in Rockingham County.

A winter storm advisory is in effect for the Piedmont until noon on Sunday.

Light freezing rain and drizzle could cause additional ice accumulations up to a tenth of an inch. Temperatures are expected to reach just above freezing into the mid 30's Saturday for the high.
