Police Chief Wayne Scott announced he would retire in an online video shared with staff. In the post, he says things at the department will remain the same between now and his last day, January 31, 2020.

He expects that over the next few months there will be information coming from the City Manager's office in regards to his replacement and anticipates a public comment period.

In a press conference today, Chief Scott indicated that he's given a long notice to allow time to find the right candidate and for a smooth transition.

Scott also said that while many factors went into the decision, he wants to spend some time with family and enjoy the next stage of his life.
