High Point Regional Health has officially joined the Wake Forest Baptist Health Care system.

It's now known as Wake Forest Baptist Health – High Point Medical Center.

Wake Forest Baptist began the process of acquiring the High Point Center from UNC Health Care last fall.

As of September 1st, the deal is complete. It comes at a time when many companies in the industry are consolidating.

In a statement, Wake Forest Baptist Health President Dr. Kevin High says this will help keep "more beds available at our Winston-Salem campus for those who need treatment for critical illnesses or injuries and enables us to deliver the right care at the right place.”

The High Point Medical Center has over 350 beds and serves more than 300,000 patients a year.
