Meet The Artist: Drummer Usman Salahuddin

Gary Warnimont
Usman Salahuddin.

*Tonight's event has been cancelled due to weather. Usman will be performing at Krankies on February 29th at 7:00pm.

After enduring the grueling workload of an economics major and Chinese minor at Davidson College, Usman Salahuddin decided to pursue his lifelong passion: drums. The jazz devotee currently works as a dance accompanist at UNC School of the Arts and he's got gigs coming up at Krankies downtown.

Tonight, February 15th, he'll be in concert with the Greg Hyslop Trio. Greg's a nationally known jazz guitarist. His first album, Manhattan Date with Kenny Werner on piano and John Riley on drums, was rated four stars in Down Beat Magazine. You can hear him and Usman in the intimate confines of Krankies Coffee Shop in downtown Winston-Salem for free starting at 7pm.

You can follow Usman on his Instagram: Usman_Salahuddin
