Universes Is A National / International Ensemble Company Of Multi-Disciplined Writers And Performers. They fuse poetry, theater, jazz, hip-hop, politics, blues and more to create moving, sometimes challenging and always entertaining theatrical works. This weekend the UNC at Greensboro Performing Arts Series presents Universes' Live From the Edge, featuring excerpts from their award-winning plays Ameriville, commemorating the 10 year Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and Party People celebrating the Black Panthers and the Young Lords movements of the 60's. We sample from Party People in today's show. It features Universes Co-founder (and Doris Duke Artist award winner) Steven Sapp. He spoke with David Ford from his home in Los Angeles.

On Saturday night, February 13th, Universes will perform Live From the Edge, a "Best Of" evening with excerpts from their award-winning plays, and their upcoming work, based on the unpublished poetry of August Wilson. Performance begins at 8pm in Aycock Auditorium on the UNC at Greensboro campus.
