Across The Blue Ridge - Episode 2 (Roots of Bluegrass Music in North Carolina)

Paul Brown
Henry “Hank” Sapoznik joins "Across the Blue Ridge" host Paul Brown this week to talk about roots of bluegrass music in the playing of North Carolina artist Charlie Poole.

This week's Across the Blue Ridge explores roots of bluegrass in North Carolina old-time music – specifically that of the groundbreaking banjo player Charlie Poole. Musician and researcher Henry “Hank” Sapoznik joins host Paul Brown for a lively discussion – with plenty of music – that helps us understand where bluegrass style playing came from, what it is, and Charlie Poole's role as a pioneer. Plus … some classic bluegrass and old-time traditional songs, some updated, some not … and fiddle classics from artists including Kenny Baker, Arthur Smith and Albert Hash.
