Marsie West

Democrat Marsie West has defeated Republican Chris Parker in Forsyth County's District B race. Her victory gives Democrats control of the county commission for the first time in years.

While most Forsyth residents vote with Democrats in presidential elections, the party is outnumbered on the commission. A flip in District B could change that.

Last year, the board voted to experiment with a new schedule that allowed for an evening meeting once a quarter. The first one of those was held late last week, and the public came out in droves to push for more of them.
