Food pantry workers in the High Country are seeing a spike in the number of clients they serve following the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, will no longer issue benefits in North Carolina beginning on November 1, creating uncertainty for individuals and families who rely on the program for food.

North Carolina federal employees and others across the nation aren’t getting paid, leaving them to lean on their communities for basic necessities like food.
