Permitless concealed carry in North Carolina faces uphill battle after some GOP pushback

A bill to let adults carry concealed handguns without a permit cleared the North Carolina legislature on Wednesday; however, the path to joining the majority of U.S. states with similar laws remains uncertain.

A bill that would allow concealed weapons to be carried on West Virginia college campuses passed by a landslide in the state's House of Delegates. It heads to the desk of Republican Gov. Jim Justice.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal to expand gun rights in the United States in a New York case over the right to carry a firearm in public for self-defense.
