The University of North Carolina System has awarded nearly $6.5 million in state-funded grants for universities, education centers and rural hospitals to support new and ongoing rural healthcare workforce training programs.

The legislation moved $319 million to the state's Medicaid program and also provided critical funding for the state's prison system, DMV and State Bureau of Investigation.
